My turn with the MD

by Amanda Fleet

No, no, this isn't some strange X-rated film/story... I'm talking about the Midori MD notebooks that Scrib has already talked about here and here.

These are lovely, understated, superb quality paper notebooks. They come as 3-packs in plain, lined or grid, and usually sell out quickly. You've been warned!

Each notebook has 48 pages, and although they have stapled binding, they lie completely flat without needing to break their spines.

Ruling is at at 7mm, and the middle line on a page is ruled slightly darker. Both the card cover and the paper is a soft cream colour, and, as Scrib has already said, the paper plays beautifully with fountain pens, with no feathering or ghosting, and reasonably quick dry time.

Branding is minimal - nothing at all on the back, and a small embossed "MD paper, made in Japan" on the front. If even this small amount annoys you, the interior is symmetrical, so you could flip the book over and make the back cover into the front cover.

I really love these notebooks, and they fit perfectly in my Lochby for when I'm out and about and want to separate notes off into different topics (no... I never have mastered bullet journals for this exact reason! I need all the notes in a notebook to be about the same thing, not everything all mixed up!). The books have enough pages to make a decent number of notes, but aren't so thick that you're hesitant to start in case you waste some (or is that just a 'me' thing?). They also have index stickers for labelling the notebooks (shown below with a B6ish size).

As well as the A5 packs, Nero has the same paper in B6 (ish... 17.5 x 10.5cm)

They have fabulous paper, and are good prices for a 3-pack, so they don't tend to hang around for long. Grab yours now, while you can.
