It's time.
In 2016, I was buying Field Notes from www.pocketnotebooks.co.uk. In 2017, I bought www.pocketnotebooks.co.uk.
I love my analogue tools, and being surrounded by boxes of them is a delight.
However, after eight years, it's time for me to move on.
The last orders will be taken on Thursday, January 30th, 2025, for despatch on Friday, January 31st, 2025. The final Nero subscription will be billed and fulfilled on February 5th.
Running Nero's has been a joy. Suppliers have been wonderful to work with, and competitors have been welcoming and supportive. I will never forget that when Nero, our beloved schnauzer, for whom the site was renamed, was mauled and killed, competitors reached out with love. Stationers, past and present, I salute you all.
I've been lucky to work with some cracking people at Nero's. Amanda and Scrib have been writing for the blog for years and are vastly overworked and underpaid. When Clare needed time off, she magically produced a conveyor belt for young people who had stepped in, ensuring unbroken service for our customers.
Clare has been titanic. She has never let a customer down, and she has never let me down. She is an absolute Trojan, a wonderful colleague, and a great friend. How lucky I have been.
Nero's has been blessed with the greatest customers—you guys reading this, whether you've bought one pencil or taken a subscription every month for seven years (oh, yes, some people have, you know), have kept the place going and been incredibly generous to both Clare and me. Where I have cocked up, you have been patient. Where Clare has been extraordinary, you have told her. You're absolutely the best.
As we wrap up the company, no customer will lose out. Subscriptions will be honoured or refunded. I will also strive to ensure that every supplier and service provider is paid in full.
Everything on the site will be heavily discounted throughout January. If you can snap up a bargain, that would greatly assist. Every sale, small or large, is a huge help as I settle any outstanding debt.
My love for stationery hasn't diminished one little bit, and I have no doubt I'll be opining about it either here, or at www.stuartlennon.com, and you can always catch me at hello at stuartlennon.com. As long as Justin allows me, I'll be babbling on at Stationery Adjacent, wherever you get your podcasts.
