Even more holiday notebooks

by Scribble Monboddo

Riffing on Amanda's admirable theme, here's a few more options for personal travels! Broadly, the tried and tested solutions from this traveller can be roughly divided into two travel methods; par avion, et en voiture.

If you're flying, minimising bulk is generally a priority, and the easiest way to achieve that is to keep it minimal. Even A6 can be a bit of a squeeze in one's flying trousers, but pocket size (9 x 14cm) is reliably trimmed for real-world pockets, to the point that you can reasonably fit a pair in to your carry-on outfit. A couple of pages a day is probably enough to capture the essential memories for a travel diary. Looking at Nero's stock you might be a bit spoilt for choice, but if you'd like a promising starting point you could do a lot worse than the quirky but sturdy offerings from Word, such as their whimsically amusing festival smiley classic. Well, why not?

If you're driving yourself, there's a bit more scope to choose the notebook which sits comfortably on a picnic table beside the sea, or on the tea tray beside a roaring fire. You get the picture; portable, but reasonably expansive. A5 fits the bill perfectly; a single page per day is probably enough to avoid the memories all becoming a blur in this size. Again, Nero has more choices than you can shake a stick at, but this correspondent will be taking a Wilder on expedition. It does the job rather well.

That's perhaps enough from us on this subject for a while. What works for your words?
